Best J seats on QF INT A330

Had a browse around but can't find anything in regards to the best J seats on the QF A330 that does the BKK run. I'll am flying BKK to SYD in Jan and currently have 2JK but was wondering if there are any first hand reports on the best seats.

That is a very good question... not too sure on that one, I thought they only did a 300 to BKK, the seat map I see is the below one if that helps

I personally prefer the E/F seats on the 300. Direct aisle access, and you're not bothered if your seat mate needs to get out.

When travelling solo I do as well but SWMBO likes a window for the approach into SYD

There isn't really a lot in it. I prefer a window seat so usually go for 1A in both the 200 and 300s. Usually end up with a free seat next to me.

The 300s have 5 rows in one J cabin. The international 200s have 2 mini cabins with 3 rows each. On the 200 the second J cabin is usually a bit emptier so can be good. Qantas do seem to swap them about a bit. This year I have had a few swaps about 2 or 3 days out before.

That is a -300. I am fairly sure I have seen both make an appearance on that route.

Row 2 (E or F as a solo) has suited me just fine on a 300.

I was on this flight just over a week ago, and J was full. I was in the 2nd cabin and it seemed to be as quiet as the first. The 1st cabin is closer to the loos, if that matters. A service galley separates the two.

As a couple I would go for row 2 or 3.......probably the A side.

Bit of a bugger that the A330 is the only option these days

On a flight to PVG we moved from row 1 to row 2 middle seats. I would happily take these again except the SWMBO window requirements. It must be in their genes!

We have 1A and B in Nov from HKG. Miss Spatsky (5) in 1A. Is this a good choice for a child? - i figured it was fairly private. OvernigHt flight so should be ok - not worried about her, just wondering.

I was in 2E on Saturday and was happy with that. I would tend to choose AB over JK as JK just sound like they are worse seats - lower down the alphabet. I pretty much boarded and slept the entire flight.

What's the main difference that would make one choose row 2 over row 1 (or vv, or any other row)?

I would choose row 2 so you are slightly further away from galley/loos.

I was in 2E on Saturday and was happy with that. I would tend to choose AB over JK as JK just sound like they are worse seats - lower down the alphabet. I pretty much boarded and slept the entire flight.

My reasoning for JK was that the sun is on the A side when flying in to Australia and if there is someone close by that wants to open the blinds a bit early the K side would be darker (in my mind that is ). Think I am going to stick with row 2 I think. My first QF A330 experience.

Just experienced the A330-300 from Syd-HKG in 3JK. Agree that if you are alone, go for the centre seats for aisle access. Otherwise, choose the windows. Agree with your sentiments about the early wakeup for the sun and choosing the opposite side.
The downside that I recognised with row 1 AB/JK is that there the light in the forward toilet area remained on whilst they dimmed the cabin so poor Ms 1J kept getting lights shone in her eyes when someone visited the restroom - especially a problem when you are trying to get some shut eye. So I made a note to self - don't choose 1AB/JK.

This is something that I have never considered or made a decision based on this fact - but I really think that I should.

When I was a travel consultant some travelers had notes in their profiles stipulating when travelling in south or East for night flights they wanted K side North or West the A side, that is what made me think more about it.
