There’s a bunch of large sign up bonuses from the usual suspects at the moment - NAB, ANZ, Citi - that will dwarf your monthly points earn unless you’re putting hundreds of thousands through the card per year.

There’s a whole forum on this site dedicated to them. Go forth and churn away!

That’s brilliant thanks for your help. I’m keen to hear your process for churning. Any good rules you follow on your churning adventures? Ie only so many card applications each year? Etc

No need to PM.

It’s quite simple.

Have in your mind a goal for your points. Make it a fun one. This is harder right now but bear with it.

Make sure you can afford a credit card. Do not spend any money you don’t have.

Apply for card with best bang for buck sign up bonus, make minimum spend, pay it off without paying any interest, get points and then cancel it immediately.

Then try for another one with a new card provider. If you start getting rejected, wait for a few months and then try again, or try with a different card provider. Keep going until you’ve made your goal.

The most important step is to then spend the points on the fun things you’ve dreamt earlier. They’re not acquiring any interest sitting there!

Thanks, that’s very helpful. Have you done this often and are you still doing it? Do you have other debt (ie mortgage etc) which could complicate it? Which are your favourites?
