I find Sim Lim Square in Singapore pretty good.

At SIN airport you can also claim back the GST, much like our TRS scheme.

What is the GST rate in Sin?

It's 7% in SIN and 20% in the UK. Even with the tax back SIN was marginal benefit when I looked earlier this year. From memory the smallest wifi only model was just cheaper than Oz, but that benefit decreased moving up the models. If I could be bothered I'd do a spreadsheet.

I wanted to buy a specific camera this year - RRP in Oz was $349, but I could get here online for $229 including shipping. Most places at Sim Lim Square didn't even have it, and the two that did wanted to charge $480 SGD which is more than the RRP!

Inc tax prices see a 8% advantage at list in Singapore, top of the line 64gb 3G is $828 versus $899 here! Entry level $501 vs $539.

Sim Lim is not known for its camera bargains, try peninsula plaza next time.

It may have been a Grey import which means that there's no Australian warranty by the manufacturer, only any warranty provided by the vendor.

USA is the cheapest, but as you're not going there then most probably Singapore.

Adapter plugs can be a pain though.

A few of the above suggestions are good.
Actually, HKG is the cheapest :)

Apple power plug "duck heads" are cheap as chips too else just use USB to charge.

Not true for iPads. Take it to an Apple store Genius Bar. They'll jot even bat an eyelid. My iPad had issues and the Santa Monica store in CA replaced it and didn't even comment on it being non USA purchased.

my comparison was ex tax prices. I dare say the exchange rates might have changed a bit since April/may
