Where's the best place to buy Qantas FF points?
Unfortunately due to time constraints and my strip being in Sept-Oct I don't have enough time to just simply earn the points I'm looking for, so I'm exploring options to purchase the points.

Looking for something in the range of 140,000-200,000 points.

I've had a look on Gumtree, it hasn't turned up much. Ebay, even less.

Ideas everyone? Would be greatly appreciated. :)

Technically you can't buy that many. You can purchase some from the Qantas website.

Have you thought about CC sign on offers?

Yeah I've considered it but because being on 23 with 1 credit card, I don't really have a credit file. So no one will give me on really. Sucks to be me. No defaults or anything (I had a credit report run) and I have an income over over 60k p.a. and no major debts. Don't know what's stopping them from giving me them. Ah well.
Any other tricks of the trade you'd suggest using, aside from CCs?

you cannot buy QFFF points outside of the QF website - and they have a limit for those transactions (15% of an award?)

you can get family members to combine some points.

the risk with a purchase on gumtree or ebay is that the account is audited and you lose both your money and your ticket.

probably best to do something like sign up for Avianca lifemiles program, and either wait for a 100% bonus offer OR buy the miles you need outright and fly star alliance. Plenty of award availability and probably a lot less cost than the QF equivalent for a higher class of service.

That's what i was going to suggest depending on where you want to fly, buying that many QFF points, even if you could would be pretty expensive... At least several thousands of dollars plus then fuel fines and taxes to pay in cash...

Combining a couple of USDM redemptions would most likely be cheaper and you might even be able to do them in business class, or as Mel_Traveller suggests, combine some USDM and LM redemptions... Save the OW flight till you can accumulate some points over time with CC bonuses etc...

Yeah I've considered it but because being on 23 with 1 credit card, I don't really have a credit file.

Credit files don't work like that - an application for credit creates an entry, and the more entries in a short time (amongst other things) will reduce your chances.

Do you have other liabilities?

Your one credit card application previously should be helping you (as it's only one) not hindering so I'd say it's something else (ie liability, debts, expenses too high etc)

You can buy Qantas points but the price of the points means you would only be in front value wise if you are wanting to go in business or first class as buying points for economy travel would be higher than the cost of a ticket.
Being 23 it is the right age to work hard, save plenty and enjoy cheap fares with your friends and watch your savings grow.

As Cove points out that is not the case, points can be purchased outside of the QF website.

$600 each way in Business class with Singapore Airlines (via Brisbane of course).

Yeah. I've got to buy 2 tickets as well (one for me, one for my partner) I've found economy return tickets with Scoot for $550 return each... Which isn't too bad, but ideally I'd like it to be even cheaper... Dreaming about ($500 return for the two), so just trying to evaluate what's the best method to either find economy tickets around that price or enough points with some airline to reduce the price to around this mark too.

That sounds like a bargain.
QF don't have a J fare that cheap to anywhere, at least not from MEL, unless its SYD or ADL.
And BNE-BKK is probably a six hour flight.

When SQ is cheaper than QF that tells you something lol.

oh. i didn't know that. where can i buy them?

You need to do the odd AFF event to find that answer to that one ;0

You are dreaming, and you wont get points for that amount of money anywhere! When Qantas has a sale you can pick up BKK for $500 return through Expedia.com.br (currently its $700), factor in the value of points earned, baggage meals etc and its a pretty hard to say no.

Thats using points, not a published purchasable fare, BNE BKK is not 6 hours, its 8.

then I stand by my answer to the OP. The most likely place for the OP to purchase QF points is directly through QF and not through some site such as ebay or gumtree. Both of which would contravene the terms and conditions of the QFFF program.

So you think if I'm satisfied with Evonomy flights to forget about the points side of things and buy the $550 return scoot tickets (which includes baggage, taxes, etc) or wait for Qantad ticks to go on sale? They're the best two options?

Its not in contravention of the QFF program to purchase points in the manner thats known, and its not via an auction or trading site.

You will earn 11000 points with QFF, thats enough for a free flight, so its part of the value that needs to be looked at, and from memory Scoot from Thailand to OOL does not connect well at SIN, think its a 23 hour transit, so you have accomodation costs in Singapore which will be circa $100 at best.
