Best status credit run OOL-MEL...

Hi all, just a quick question before bookin. With regards to best status credits along with family pooling. Flying OOL-MEL... in order to max status credits, if I book via SYD on same ticket do I get credit for both legs or do I need to fly OOL - SYD on one ticket and then SYD-MEL on separate ticket.
