Hi community,

apologies if this is in the wrong forum. Most of my travel is through work but finally planning a family holiday to Fiji.

I have several hundred thousand points and am trying to work out the best way to get there and back in Business - its for myself, my wife and 2 kids (1 and 3). Fiji Airways fly direct from Adelaide now thankfully - is it better if I book through the Qantas website or go through the Fiji Airways site in terms of using points to upgrade?

I also understand that some of the cheaper fares don't have the ability to be upgraded to business using points? Am i right in that thinking?

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

QFF points can only be used to upgrade QF flights - both metal and flight number.

Points upgrades are a lottery at the best of times and chances of success for a whole family would be pretty negligible. Best bet is to use points to book J fares directly on QF website. Availability might be pretty limited - you might need to be flexible to find dates, obviously look for midweek not in school holidays etc. Are you trying for 3 seats or 4?

Yeah we are flexible with dates, thinking march next year. And we are after 3 seats.

Thanks for the input guys :)

Wanting 3 seats in J which are award seats would be booking sooner rather than later but also try and book mid week both ways if you can as that will give you a better chance of 3 J seats

In March there are days with 3J awards but not necessarily direct. You will need 300,000 points for the return trip. As above if you see anything suitable book it ASAP.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Going to be a lot easier to just book through Fiji airways and go economy direct from Adelaide. $1500ish return for everyone, can't really go past that in the end!

Took our lot (7,4 &2yr olds) to Fiji last year with Fiji airways and it all went fine! But the lounge at Nadi airport is not all that family friendly (they wouldn't let us all in, just the one single QFF Gold member)
