BEST way to get some Status Credits

If you want 300 SC's in a day it's also doable for around $750 AUD, flying out of SFO (doing these in a few weeks). Ask me if you're interested or look around to see my flight schedules ;)

yep i am in!

let me know

The most cost effective way from around here is SYD-AKL-SYD on LAN airlines in business at about $600 for 160 SCs.

Is this deal still on? Hubby is short of about 130 SCs by the end of this year to retain his Plat - as his boss is not giving him another RTW trip. He will have to do a status run!

"Instant Upgrade" fares are essentially Economy fares that book directly into First/Business Class Cabins.

Yes, you can be bumped. It's unlikely though. I've taken a dozen or so of the P class fares and have never been bumped yet (including 5 or 6 of them between SFO and LAX). Each earns 60 SC's. You're only likely to be bumped if the following flights you would be re-accommodated on are sold out, or you're not willing to wait till a flight in which you can be accommodated in P class.

I have flown over 30 of these and have never been bumped!

It pays to keep at least 90 minute or more between flight is possible.

Just want to give an update on the status run. Fortunately, hubby did not have to do one before the end of this year as his boss is sending him to Asia for a week this month. :p

He is taking time off between Christmas and New Year, so we decided to go to New Zealand for a week. We have booked on LAN in J for $700 pp - comparing to Y with Qantas for $600 pp.

One good thing about booking with LAN was that there was no credit card fee! [unlike Qantas].

We are going to hear the Oracle of Omaha (WEB) in late April next year. We will use FF points to get from SYD to LAX. So, we just need to pay from LAX to OMA. I have been researching the instant upgrade fare with AA from LAX to OMA (via DFW) but it looked expensive (around US$5,000). On Expedia, return Y fares were about US$300 from LAX to OMA with AA (via DFW), or from LAX to OMA with UA (via DEN). I will have to do more research.

PS - I forgot to mention that based on Bill's tip, we will book into Ventura Inn at Auckland Airport for the night before the flight to SYD. It has good reviews in tripadvisor. Thanks again, Bill.

I think in they call him the "Sage of Omaha" actually.

Yes, you are right! :oops: The Sage of Omaha!

PS - I have been reading his biography by Alice Schroeder for a year. Hubby finished reading it 3 months after it was released. I hope to finish it by the time we go to Omaha in April next year!
