Howdy,
I am QFF / Velocity member.

Thinking about flying Sydney - London (standby)... but, then need to get London to Athens on 2nd Sept (putting in 16th Sept as the return date)

Checking the BA website... London to Athens...
All prices in GBP (£)
Economy, Lowest cost 89.
Business, lowest cost 241.

Athens to London:
Economy, Lowest cost 110
Business, lowest cost 237.

London to Athens:
Economy, flexible 626
Business, flexible 312

Athens to london
Economy, flexible 631
Business, flexible 312.

This raises a few questions.... the primary one is why, on earth, is business half the price of economy??

However, the next question is more interesting...

I think I only want to go one way (see, eg, London - Athens stop Istanbul - London - Sydney)... so let's check the London to Athens price.

London to Athens one way:
Economy, cheapest, 92
Business, cheapest, 913

London to Athens, one way:
Economy, flexible, 745
Business, flexible 913.

Which raises more questions... like, why is flexible and cheapest the same business price. Why is economy flexible 745GBP one way.... whilst I can do return in business in flexible for 312 + 312 = 624.....

So, if I did want to go London - Athens stop - Istanbul... can I book London to Athens return for 312 + 312 in flexible business...... then cancel (immediately, or later) the return flight and get a full refund, less £15? This seems like such a stupid thing. At this stage, it seems to be the best option for me.... I need flexible, since my SYd-Lon will probably be standby.

Is there a better way to go London - Athens than BA? I can't seem to find one via a one world carrier, or a couple of other bigger ones (like SQ).

Cheers,
R

EDIT:->Also, I've never heard anything good about BA business... do you guys all agree that BA Business is a little bit underwhelming?
