Hey all,

I was thinking of topping up my cellar (cool room in the middle of the house so nothing crazy) after having enjoyed some early 2000's bottles.

I'm looking to spend c.$1-2k on getting some decent red wines that will start to shine after having been aged for 5-10 years.
Open to styles (mainly drink Shiraz, Cab Sav, grenache etc.)

Ideally <$50 for weekly family dinners / solo meals.

I've had a look at the Langton's vintage charts and top cellared lists (i.e Wynns Cab Sav) for ideas.
However was hoping for some specific recommendations I can keep my eye out for any upcoming sales.

Thanks.

Without knowing your specific preferences or style, I'm just rattling based off what I would buy:

- Setiono Syrah
- Wynn's BL
- Vanguardist Grenache
- Dappled Chard (I know you didn't ask for a white, but *shrugs*) they also do Syrah.
- Tyrrell's NVC
- Serrat (any you can get?)

I do think rather than focusing on <$50 it's worth splitting your budget into different brackets based on occasion.

Also the iconic Aussie wines wouldn't fit into that price point. Thinking like MM Quintet, Cullen DM, Rockford BP, etc that would cellar well.

Also worth a look in is Josh Cooper 1971 Cab imo.

Bit of a random list off the top of my head.

Also have stayed local given the price range specified.

My suggestions:

St Halletts Blackwell shiraz
Penfolds Bin 128
Seppelt St Peter’s - a bit above the budget
Stella Bella Cabernet
