"Best" Y Seat on A330-200 International?

Well I ended up sticking with 24D, which is an aisle bulkhead but not a bassinet seat. I was advised at check-in that the neighbouring seat would be free, so I was happy enough to stay there.

After boarding was completed a lady was moved into 24E by the crew. Normally I would be annoyed by this but it was quite clear that she genuinely needed the extra leg/knee room. She would have been almost 7 feet tall! We got talking and it turns out she's the world's tallest netball player and used to captain the Sri Lankan netball team.

Anyway, I was happy with row 24 for the day flight but wouldn't choose it for an overnight flight as you can't really stretch your legs out.

Hi all

I will be on QF23 from SYD to BKK in Y (I booked Sale fare so cannot upgrade) on Wednesday this week - it is an A333 (at this stage) and looks very lightly loaded. I am 6'4" tall and really have issues with knee room when people recline their seat in front of me.

So I have selected 23B for the flight (my partner is in 23A). Consensus here seems to be that legroom is acceptable for these seats while not great.

Just hoping for feedback on this seat or should I pick 24J/K - but assume has identical space to 23A/B.

The exit row seats are not available to select so assume they have already been sold.

Thanks heaps

I'm 6'2" and found 23B lacking in leg room. I wouldn't choose it again.

Also, with no overhead space, if someone fills the immediate space around you it can require some upstream movement to get your carry on upon arrival.

So you would recommend a regular economy seat? And why is there no overhead space for that seat? Is it one of those overhead bins which is used for storage by the crew (headphones, first aid stuff etc)

Thanks

Yes, even if you sit a lot further back. Look at the seat map, if there is a vacant row near the back take the aisle seats and hopefully the two middle seats will remain vacant.

Another yes. And with no under seat storage you basically can't have anything with you for take off and landing.

The bulkhead window pairs are a tradeoff between not having anyone reclining into you and not being able to stretch/straighten your legs. (B/J pax may be able to straighten one leg into the aisle.)

I tried it once and never again. Your preferences may differ.

Also some people dislike the fixed armrests and swivel-arm IFE.

Thanks guys for your input. I am going to stick with the bulkhead seats for the flight - in the past when someone reclines I just get very uncomfortable and cannot move due to knees wedged into seat in front so will see how I go with the bulkhead. Hopefully the flight remains lightly loaded so can move to a different seat if I hate it.

Will report back with findings.
Thanks

Ok so have done the flight and i will pick these seats everytime I am on a A330 now. No seat reclining into my face was brilliant. Felt so much less cramped. Walking through the cabin so many people had reclined their seats even though QF23 is a daytime flight!

Agree that difficult to stretch out legs (I am 6'4") but could stretch one leg into the aisle very easily. The overhead bin directly above my seat was able to store my carryon too so really happy with my choice. Would really recommend these seats.

I was on QF97 BNE-HKG on Saturday and it's pretty much shades down and lights out after meal service. Departs roughly same time as QF23.

I was in 45A exit row and that was free due to the cowling in the exit door and has restricted legroom but 45B was blocked so I sat there instead and had spare seat.

One thing to note is that people do hang around in front of these seats waiting to use toilets but my feet were not bumped.

Yes I noticed the waiting for toilet but there is a bit of space there. The exit row was full on yesterdays QF23. I have got exit row for the QF24 overnight return which I am happy about.

There are two bins over row 23 on the AB side, a half size one directly above then the full one just behind.

Leg room isnt great, I cant extend my legs out fully unless I put my feet above the magazine pocket, but I much prefer it to being reclined on. In the B seat you can extend your legs into the curtained area near the galley as well.
