I'm super curious, who has the largest haul of points? I'm wondering what amounts people have stashed away.

A friend of a friend used to have so many points that he thought nothing of redeeming, and giving away, Qantas "points plus pay" awards in First Class.

Correct. I don't have them now as we have redeemed most of them but when I did own a business, yes I had several million of them. The good ol' days.

I currently have just under 1.2 million velocity points. Been stashing for Cananda trip 2023 (now canned) and Europe trip in 2025. Both were going to be in business but now europe might be in First.

Dave Portnoy was recently seen to have 44 million US Amex MR points. I'd take them over a large haul of QF points any day of the week!

I'd agree with that, so much more flexability.

This is how I collect my points, I have around 20m in ANZ business rewards points, I think they convert 2:1 with both Qantas and Virgin.

Are you tempted to use 'Pay with Points' to pay for your flights? Yes, it would be ~2-3 million points per business class round trip to London, but you can fly any date you want without having to worry about classic flight reward availability. Also you'll earn full points + SCs on the flight.

If I had high points generation from business spend, I probably would. Life is too short to chase classic flight reward availability unless you absolutely have to.

I do pay with points, I don't mind burning a few points for the convenience, I also book accommodation with them.

My current earn is around 1.5m per month so they build fast, I can't spend more than I earn on travel and accommodation but I still can't bring myself to use them in the reward store though.

If you are using them on a pay with points first class, a toaster might be good value!

- 4.7m Qantas
- 2m Amex
- 800k Marriott
- 600k SQ
- 500k Velocity
- 200k American

Plus smaller amounts in others

I did buy 1.5 million AA Miles for family Christmas presents with their 50% off promo last week.
To fly to Sydney at the end of the month we had to use cash to get the Qantas A330 business suite. That was an ouch moment…..

Some good IHG redemptions around such as 37,000 IHG points for 6 nights in Pattaya HI Express in April.

The rest not worth much at all. BKK-HKG-BNE for 38,000 QFF points + $400 one way economy. Seriously? Return cash airfare can be as low as $800 return.
