Hi all, thought I would have a go at my first trip report. I really enjoy reading others so thought I may as well contribute.
Just a bit about this trip, and I can imagine the collective groans on AFF as I say (in line with the title) that this will cover a trip to Bali. "Bali, he's not a schoolie is he?!" I hear you ask. Well it wasn't a bad week 17 years ago, but yeah all of that is behind me. I decided to shout my wife (without her knowing until some weeks before) a trip of spas and relaxation to Bali, whilst at the same time keeping my 2 young daughters in line and as much out of their mothers hair as possible. Sounding impossible already? good.
I know Bali has a pretty poor reputation from what I've seen on here, and admittedly I even held that view myself for a while. However I have an Indonesian background and my family and I used to go to Bali when Kuta was a village and Garuda was on everyone's personal no fly list. I remember the Bali of old, the laid back Balinese people, the need to actually know a few Bahasa Indonesia phrases and the local Warung's being the only real option bar the hotel restaurant. This will also be our first real overseas family holiday with kids, so be prepared for more "this is how you can drag a pram through potholed streets" and less "the lack of Bollinger was a real disappointment". Not nearly as interesting i'll admit, but hopefully informative for those still packing nappies into suitcases (and not for themselves).
I've got some photos prepping in Lightroom so I won't start right away, but I'll have some posts up in the next few days.
