Birds of a feather

The grey butcher bird has lost her fear so comes and sits besides us and talking a lot more. We do feed her a little mince when having afternoon drinks. The young one though will come and pick up every piece on the plate. When he returns mum gives him a good scolding. Doesn't take that much notice.

But a new problem. The old flock of pied butcher birds have got a little jealous and have attacked mum and her youngster a couple of times with 6 at a time swooping on mum and her young one.

So our butcher birds are multiplying. At drinks today 2 adults and 2 juveniles a pale brown. One is large and looks after himself. One smaller and fed by mum.
But since we have returned from Bangkok the crested doves seem to have lost all their fear and walk straight up to us. They were eating weed seeds but to my surprise had a go at the mince. And they were the powerful ones getting rid of the miners and butcher birds.

These are the doves at the mince. The larger juvenile bided his time and when he had a chance flew in and took off with a piece.IMG_0005.JPEG

Getting quite a crowd at evening drinks. 3-4 of our grey backed butcher birds. Always noisy miners an occasionally the doves. But the last 2 days pee wees who have no fear of us and walk right up to us.

Today the pied butcher birds made a reappearance today and chased all the other birds off. I ignored them and they soon left.
