Cheapest ports to fly into seem to be ARN / CPH / OSL from BKK. Search from March-May 2016 but might be other dates also. AY are meant to be running their A350 from BKK from December 2015 so might be a good chance to try it out. Fares via helloworld.com.au

Amazing price!! Recently flew BKK-HEL-BRU-HEL-BKK on AY in J on the old A340 equipment for around $2600 which I thought was a reasonable deal. Good way to pick up some QF status credits pretty cheaply on long-haul to Europe.

You can actually do 01 Jan - 31 March.

Also departures to 30 November to Paris for $1920 returning January.

Could anyone point me in the right direction to look at the dates and prices for these J fares? I am looking to go to Europe in Sep 16 via a wedding in coughet. So these could prove a perfect fit depending on when they are available!

I haven't verified, but according to the thread on FT the fare rules state that the itinerary has to be ticketed by August 13.

I subscribe to Finnair's offers and got one the other day that pointed me to this page.

Its not the same as posted by the OP (it covers Australia to Europe). Book by 31 August for travel until March 31 next year .. London return from under A$5K in business sounds pretty attractive to me! (Many European capitals for under A$4,400). These would go via an Asian port (eg SIN, BKK, HKG) and Helsinki. The leg from Oz-Asia on CX or QF, AY code share.

Just booked BKK-CPH return business class for March 2016 on AY (A350) for $2120. Slightly more than originally mentioned, due to the falling pacific peso, but still a good deal, especially as the AUD is forecast to fall a further 15% or so over the next 18 months. Will partner it with award flights SYD-BKK (TG) and CPH-LHR (BA) for a cheap total price SYD-LHR-SYD.

Hello we are looking at booking return AY business class BKK-CPH in March 2016 also and best price we are able to get is $2120 which we are happy with. Can someone please advise if we would get status credits and points for this flight. The class is Business (I) and as it's a discount flight just want to know if it's eligible. Booking via Expedia. Thanks in Advance.

From what I'm reading on the QF website, I believe that points and SC's will be awarded for this business (I) class airfare. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable could confirm the exact number of points/SC's that would be awarded.

Qantas points calculator: https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/do/dyns/initialPointsEarned

BKK-HEL in business class earns 120SCs, points dependent on your FF status.
HEL->Europe, depends on final destination for SCs and points.

So it seems my business class trip BKK-HEL-CPH-HEL-BKK will earn 320 SC's, enough to retain silver at least and maybe give a shot at gold with another such trip. However, as I understand it, FF status doesn't affect the number of points when flying AY.

Correct. Flying OW partners (except AA) is not a good way to earn QF points and no bonus for status.
