Hello

I have a VA (reward) ticket from SYD to AMS with an overnight layover in ADL first ( SYD -> ADL -> MEL -> DOH -> AMS ).

My question is, what happens to the luggage overnight? Does it stay with the airline in the airport, or do I collect it at ADL and then re-check in the next morning for the overseas flights of the ticket?

I have a reward VA tkt ADL-AMS in J and have a connection from CBR., so fairly similar.

You will have to collect your bags form VA Dom and take them to QR check in.

And since it's overnight presumably it's fine if I leave the airport to stay at a hotel and come back.

What about issuing tickets, will the intl legs be issued in ADL also, right?

The SYD-ADL flight is just a regular domestic flight. You can collect your bags as normal and leave the airport. Come back the next t day and check in. Just be aware that QR wont stump up for the International lounge in ADL so allow a few minutes to get from the domestic lounge through immigration

@SCM, if it’s all on one ticket there is a slight chance the check in agent just tags them through (if it were a two hour day connection you’d probably want them to…) to your destination.
You just need to ask them, to just check the bags to ADL and that you’ll collect them and then recheck in with QR the following morning.
