We also have no idea what the deal will be...except it's fairly safe to assume that points will be redeemable on BD and BA...well for as long as BD operates. We don't even know if One World redemption will be an option...safer to burn if you have plans to make, but I guess sit tight if you've no bookings you can lock in.
This posting on FT seems to indicate that we DO have some indea of what is happening:

[TD="class: alt2, bgcolor: #FFFFFF"]We are working with British Airways to offer Diamond Club customers the ability to earn and redeem miles on British Airways and its oneworld partners following completion of the sale. We will do everything we can to communicate more detail as soon as possible.

Although we have no idea for how much longer we will be able to redeem on *Alliance.

Assuming will be around 20 April 2012 unless anyone has more details.

Personally I am not interested in earning or redeeming on BA as it is not even remotely similar to BMI. Better off buying AA miles if one needs to redeem in Oneworld....

Redemptions on Lufthansa Group Airlines (LH, Austrian, Swiss, Brussels) is now no longer possible. Effective today. AFAIK, and as discussed with BMI call centre last night when I was making a very last minute Swiss booking, redemptions on other star alliance carriers are still possible. Rumour on FT is that these will cease on 31 May, but nothing confirmed.

Did you manage to get through last night? I tried 6-7 times between 9:00am-12:00am UK time and then once again at 3:00pm UK time and kept getting cut off.

I have one booking want to make to MNL and a return booking for a friend to BKK and that will use up all miles. Will try again in a few days and hope I have some luck. It would be a shame to lose the points (I do not think the conversion or use on Avios is going to be that crash hot) especially since I topped up for both of us this week.

Got through at about 19:30 UK time, so just made it. I think we ended up making about 50 calls including 2-3 that passed through the call back later message but cut off (thank goodness for Skype). Managed getting through on the more expensive UK number rather than the 133 ... number given for international callers.

the FT forum is indicating the final day as today 19 April, so if you ring tonight Aussie time you can still do LH group. There is no end date on other * airlines yet.

Ahhh! Don't have skype and not likely to set it up for a long time. It was just too much to stay up last night waiting to get through to normal number.

Hopefully redemptions on Star Alliance will still be available unti 31 May 2012 and availability in business class cabins still good....

I thought that BMI were leaving *A from the 20th Apr. my reading from that is that *A bookings will not be able to be booked after 19/4/12 GMT. OF course YMMV and I wish you all the best of luch, just my 2c.

You may well be right.

I was going by their notification in emails as an indicator. Just last week received an email that from 19/04/2012 we will not be able to book on the Lufthansa group of airlines. No mention of not being able to book on Star Alliance airlines just yet.

Finally managed to finish the bookings I wanted on Friday 20 April.

Now for the wait to make sure that all is OK by the time I fly....

I managed a final flourish today, LHR ORD upfront, great value for the product but I can't help wonder about the number of 'cheap miles' offers made so close to the programme termination.

Ok, my last hurrah with BMI

26/12/12 SYD-KIX (via BKK, 1hr25min layover) (TG)
02/01/13 HND-CTS (NH)

09/01/13 CTS-NRT-BKK (NH, UA)
13/01/13 BKK-MEL (TG)

Business class for 2 people (except for 2 internal Japan flights) using 4 BMI accounts from scratch (well with 1000 miles from sign up). Has come out around $1700pp which is brilliant value especially at that time of year.
