No need to extend anything, that rotunda is where the cars circle, you walk in straight to a security screening point that was there in the AN days then straight up into the lounge via the escalators already in place.

But as the terminal is multi-level, by making the rotunda covered, with levels above it would be a better use of space, though maybe not worth the cost, but it just seems you could do a lot with that chunk.

I dont think they need the space on that side, after all they will have the temporary lounge to use for another purpose after next week and thats next to the rotunda.

For sone reason, I read that as kern side chicken.

I think you're on to something here mate, maybe that would be future expansion area? It also would be an interesting architectural feature, with curving glass walls.

Which would be infinitely more attractive than the plain dirty concrete and pebbles as it stands now. I've often gazed out the Lounge window at that thinking even a useless architectural/landscape designer could do wonders with that......it has so much potential it just amazes me how "understated" it currently is.

But one of the things I really liked about the temp MEL lounge, is they had small bottles of water available. I use to grab one one the way out, and consume it on the flight. Great idea to keep you refreshed.

With real lounges they only offer water in glasses. Wouldn't it be nice if they had bottles of water in all of the lounge?

I'd suggest you get a small reusable water bottle--high grade plastic (Nalgene et al) or metal--that way you're always properly hydrated.

So will the lounge be installing appropriate facilities to clean said bottle prior to re-use?

I'm going to sound lazy, but that is a lot more work than carrying around a disposable plastic bottle.

First I have to carry it around, and then empty it for certain international flights, not to mention clean it out. As well as having to find space in a very small carry on bag.

I see what you are saying, but small bottles of water aren't that costly.
