Actually, having flown 17 first class segments on AA last year with 4 between LAX/HNL and all except 3 over 1200 miles, I have found the First class meal/beverage services to be quite a lot better than QF Domestic J. On an aside, I have found the AA FAs in F seem generally friendlier and happy to serve you than QF's serving J.

I too have travelled many times on AA First - when they serve meals, they are generally better than QF J -and this is normally on the longer domestic legs. The FA's however - I have had my share of good and bad. I have found that on the longer hauls - especially the LAX-OGG , LAX-MIA and LAX-JFK, the service is always fantastic. I can't help but wonder if it's associated with the fact that the FA's on these flights are the longer serving employees that have earned the right and been rewarded for good service in the past.

Interesting - I have found domestic F food on AA to be close to inedible and QF domestic J to be adequate. The wine on QF is drinkable and the wine on AA has been vile.

I guess as with all things it is "horses for courses"

This horse rarely drinks wine, so can't whine about that side of the course.

AA's F menu is very predictable and consistent. So if you like the limited range then its god. If you don't like their omelette then forget AA's breakfast service (I quite like it). If you don't like chicken salad sandwich or turkey wrap, the lunch won't appeal to you. If you don't like deep pan pizza then ... (well, you get the message).

QF has a more varied menu.

AA does carry a limited amount of Glenlivet, but ots only like 4 x 50ml on most domestic flights. So if you are not at the front of the drinks service and there is another scotch drinker on board, it can be gone before cart gets to the horse.

I've just finished reading this TR - WOW!!

I was tempted into routing a new DONE4 Asia-NA-EUR-Asia so that I can visit LA in July, but the problem was trying to reposition to MEL and back as the transpacific legs are impossible to get on miles. A very creative aagent presented me with LAX-ORD-CDG-HKG-BKK-SYD-MEL in F/J. I was tempted to say yes but it'd have left me with only 2 days in LA and I'd come back too late for uni.

Now do I dare to buy my own ticket LAX-MEL in whY...

Very nice trip report.

Interesting itinerary and one I would not attempt after travelling SYD-ATH the long way. I had 10 flights in 3 days, originally scheduled for 13 flights in 3 days, and vowed never to do that type of routing again.

Was on an AA flight TPA-MIA in First, now I realise the flight is only about 45mins, but the attendant just sat and read her book the entire trip. A couple of us went up to her and asked for a bottle of water...she denied us, claiming the flight wasn't catered. Personally I think she couldn't be bothered.
