Decided to write this review up to pass some time in the lounge. Flying SQ Y to LHR (yikes) and no status, so picked up a 3 hour pass from Loungepair for ~50 AUD (no affiliation).

As an aside, the new bag drop self-checkin terminals and the CT scanners in security make checkin a breeze. I turned up for when checkin opened and was checked in and through security in fifteen minutes from being dropped off.

Lounge is located above the main dining concourse, adjacent to the ANZ and SQ lounges. I last visited pre-pandemic so interested to see how things had changed.

Lounge was actually quite quiet and peaceful - I checked in at around 2100 on a Sunday and there were plenty of seating options.

As for seating, there were approximately eight seating booths with power points and USB terminals and a small reading light. These were in fair condition - some wear but clean.

Variety of seating including easy chairs, hard-backed chairs with power points and USBs. Nice soft lighting and lots of room to watch the dining area below.

Food and beverages
Fairly ropey-looking selection. I recall it being better when I last visited. All of the drinks fountains were off and no draught beer was available.
Dilmah tea selection, standard issue coffee machine and concentrated apple juice/water for non-alcoholic selections.

Beer was Carlton Mid and Great Northern Super Crisp, from the can/bottle.
Some unknown red/white wines: I'm not a wine drinker, so didn't enquire.
Spirits included vodka, Ballantine ('scotch'), Jack Daniels, Sailor Jerrys - bartender offered me a double pour without asking which was nice.

Food selection

Pretty ropey, to be honest.

Ancient cheeseboard - looked like it had been out the whole day. Little squares of cheddar all dry and cracked, slices of Brie, some unknown soft cheese and a jar of water crackers.

Pasta and pesto (#studentdays)
Some greasy chilli con carne and old rice
Chicken wings with honey sauce - not bad

Overall

Firstly, sorry for dreadful formatting - first go.

It is a pretty quiet and peaceful place to have a rest. Certainly wouldn't rely on it to fill you up with a dinner. Barebones drinks selection. I think the F&B selection has probably taken a turn for the worse since COVID but could be wrong. Will be interested to see what the PP lounge in LHR is on the way back - I remember it being pretty good!

Great writeup. I used to go in there all the time. I don't remember the bar being so sparse?! Overall I remember it being decent. It could get quite crowded though.

Just read that it will be closing at the end of May
I'd actually say this a good thing. It's been open almost 8 years, will have the lease handed back to BAC and then the aim is to get a new operator in the space. Plaza Premium also had the spa out the back which never reopened post covid so it'll remain to be seen what happens with this smaller space.

BNE- Australia's world city. Gotta get that airport a bit more special heading into Olympics

This is a bit unfair, the lounge will only be closed for a few months before opening under a new operator. The Hong Kong based Plaza Premium group hasn't really grown since covid and continues to shrink so hardly surprising they are dropping Brisbane from their network.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Anyone know when exactly(month-wise) this will re-open under whichever new operator? And is this new operator going to be a Priority Pass lounge?
