It sure is the long way round, in Y would not be so inviting.

You would have to value your time and comfort at a very low rate in order to endure that much EY Y just to save a few hundred dollars.

True it is a long time, but I wonder if you can have any stop-overs en-route? It looks like it covers EY 100-104 (or at least that's what comes up on auto).

If you could leg it then that's a dirt cheap flight to Europe with a side trip to NY thrown in on the side.

Should also be worth some extra Status credits and points as the one-stop trip.

Seems about an extra 8 to 9 hours journey time.

Doing a check for business has EY at over $7,000. So seems they're just trying to fill Y up.

Hawaiian offers it for $4,300 with a 24 hr one stop going but a 42 hour one stop return. However if you could leg the retun for a holiday in Hawaii as well then it becomes a lot more interesting.

I have done similar recently to book into Europe and back out of the US.

Would you really want to go to Abu Dhabi, even to transit?

As long as not more than 2 to 3 hour lay over than no problem with it. longer than that and you need lounge access.

Hopefully the new terminal will be a significant improvement.

Do you mean the 28 hour + route to the US with a European stopover included on the US destination fare?

As long as you book U class and not T class, then you should earn 100% AAdvantage miles.

If you book through expedia.com.au or similar then you should see the booking class.

BNE-AUH-JFK is 14329 mi each way, so 28k AA miles for $1273 is pretty good, essentially 0.044 AUD per RDM.

No I got an open jaw flight into the Amsterdam and return from JFK for $750.
