BNE to MEL connecting to HKG are bags checked from BNE through to HKG

I have a flight Qantas Business BNE to MEL and then connecting on to HKG Business on Cathay Pacific. My question is (never done this before) if I check bags in Brisbane do I need to collect and re-check in MEL international as it is a different airline? I have a 1 hour 45 min connection time in MEL. Thanks for your help.

Then you should be able to check the bags through to the final destination. Just ask at the first checkin, and they'll let you know and do it if it's possible.

So even though the first flight from BNE is from the domestic terminal I should be able to check in right through? The second flight is with Cathay to Hong Kong and final flight with British Airlines to London all on the one booking/ticket.

Can check right through so long as both flights are on the one ticket. The “business class” is irrelevant.

At BNE domestic - need to get assistance at the check in counter to tag your bags correctly. They should also tag the bags with a white and blue (if I remember correctly) “international connection” tag
