Looks like a brilliant time was had. Isn't flying into Longreach on an Qantas plane a surreal thing?!

ps. Well, it did in fact rain in Longreach, and a large part of the central west interior, last night - much so, that the road from Longreach to Barcaldine has been closed due to flooding!

Well I am still recovering from an amazing day - it went by so quickly so I will be planning my return trip to LRE soon

i loved it all but I must say - the goodies we got were amazing. The little satchel bag and shirt won't be ending up on EBay at all - and all the rest of the logos they used. They did a really good job, can't fault anything

i hope we can do it again - it was the best $737 I ever spent

How was seat allocation done?

Apart from about 4 seats in J I'd think it was completely random.
It didn't really matter in the wash to be honest, I'd have been happy anywhere. Yes J would have been nice obviously but I did get a window seat which I prefer. A shed load of passengers ended up with a middle seat and I guess most of them wouldn't have requested that.
One thing I thought about retrospectively and that is that it would have been good for all the single bookings (and there were many) from AFF/Facebook etc to have the PNR's linked and seating allocated to us as a group. That might be something worth exploring for the next charity flight.

Another thing missing from announcements on the day was the amount Qantas donated by putting on the plane and other services.

The airports did not charge, the crew donated their time and the fuel was donated and I think lunch etc in Longreach.

Red Roo - would the company release an approximation of its in-kind contribution?

Thanks PF. My question was pure curiosity - not about AFF seat-wrangling. Glad to confirm what I thought: any seat would be good because everything else transcended that . I could have tolerated a middle seat - as long as I got to sit next to you, of course :mrgreen:.

OT but there is no AFF Facebook group. AFF has a Facebook page. I'm aware of two Facebook groups which have AFF members in them. I help to run one of them (it has pics from the event) and the other is much larger and run by a former member of AFF.
