Bonus offers when converting other credit card points to Velocity.

I am a new Velocity member who also has a Commbank diamond awards Amex. I receive 3pts per $ spend on the Amex but only 1 pt per $ spend on my Amex Velocity platinum. Usually end up with over 100k points per year.
I believe the conversion rate for my Commbank pts to Velocity is 2:1. So I plan to continue to use my Commbank Amex for the majority of our spend as it is effectively 1.5 Velocity pts per $ spend.

Have I got the sums right?

I have also read that at times there are bonus offers to convert pts with 15% extra value or similar.

Is this correct and how are you notified?

I think from memory the bonus promotions occur twice per year. It is well advertised so you shouldn't miss it.

Does anyone know of any credit card (apart from Commonwealth Bank Business Credit Cards) allowing you to earn points from the ATO transactions? (that then allow you to transfer to Virgin Frequent flyer points?)

Amex does but at reduced earn.

I also have the Diamond Awards Amex and although CBA used to participate in all the promotions, over the past couple of years it only seems to be every second one - so if you receive an email about a bonus transfer/redemption offer, always check to make sure your bank is one of the participating ones before you go ahead and transfer points across!

A question for all the velocity faithful out there
Can I assume that the transfer bonus will not be occurring this month as 1st oct has passed and no announcement??
ie do the transfer bonus periods always start on the first of the month or in the past have they occurred at random start times thru the month.
Sorry just wanting to book some EY F travel but I wouldn't mind a 15 % bonus to do it

I'm hopeful for a bonus off in the coming months too... Have been eating into my VA balance with domestic flights lately. So much more availability than QF has meant that I can basically fly when I want with VA and not have to fork out any hard $$
