With QFF gold or silver status, one earns bonus points on American Airlines. Do I still get the bonus if I book through American Airlines and the flight has an AA flight number, but the carrier is British Airways or Iberia?
Put another way, are QFF points allocated based on the marketing or operating airline?

In oneworld ff earnings are based on marketing carrier (flight number) when an eligible operating carrier and an eligible fare class.
All oneworld airlines are classed as eligible.

The this case, status bonus is earned based on the Marketing Carrier:

  • American Airlines
Flights with an American Airlines (AA) flight number on your ticket that are eligible to earn base Qantas Points. See the American Airlines earn categories table for eligible booking classes.

Thanks to all for your comments and thank you for the link to the applicable page on the Qantas website. I just found that I was going around in circles when looking for this information

A somewhat on topic data point, I flew AA72 recently and had my QF points in the account before landing! I don’t think I’ve ever had that before unless on QF metal.
