Was that a extra/add-on/bundle you could select when buying a Bonza fare? That should’ve raised some alarm bells even for Bonza patrons!

It was a menu item you could buy onboard. $35 for a Medium or Large size only.

Just announced by Hall Chadwick (the accounting firm who has taken administration of Bonza) that all flights are grounded until at least Thursday, and that customers shouldn't go to the airport even if they have bookings.

Seems the Bonza business plan was flawed in more than a few areas.
For starters a all ready saturated domestic market, on a recovery from Covid restrictions on travel.
Failing to have a high yield/high return trunk route, but placing bets on routes not covered. Their is a reason why those routes weren't covered.
Insufficient number of planes/wrong plane types to service those routes.
Targeting the wrong market sector, the casual traveler traveling in limited numbers isn't going to to pay the bills long term.
Relying on a booking method that was new to the Australian market, people are very resistant to change when making bookings. They will gravitate to established websites, travel agents etc as opposed to an app.
In short they needed more than relying on the feel good Aussie "bogan" approach to their business model.

They don’t have any assets and their name is mud. Their business model has proven to be a failure. There is nothing left.

I, for one, couldn’t give a flying f about MCY airport or any other major corporation right now. There are a lot of families who are now without a job and probably without recent pay or entitlements. Even more sad is that, for many of them, this would be the second time in exactly four years. The fact that a poster here felt the need to laugh at that above is really telling of Australia’s long standing “tall poppy” issue.

I certainly hope everyone here, who cross airline staff on a fairly regular basis, takes a moment to have these people in their thoughts tonight.

I do agree broadly however I do have to point out that MCY is council owned so if they are left short by Bonza that will have an impact on everyone in the community.

Already happened with the appointment, but VA is all about the administrator digging insolvent businesses out of a hole and finding new owners, but first finding out whether there is any chance they can be dug out. I doubt very much there is.

Having done a lot of work with local councils… pissing money up the wall does seem to be their speciality! The council will become a creditor. They’ll survive. My thoughts are with the families hurting tonight. While redundancies and insolvencies happen, in this line of work people can’t just start with a new employer tomorrow.

I had 5 jobs in the 12 months period of 2019-2020, due to a mix of contracts, and COVID. And they were also a mixed of private sectors and being a public servant (yes, the government fired me because of COVID arriving)

Being made redundant again and again is nothing new, and was already the norm before COVID.

Welcome to year 2024.

Guess what? You get made redundant, you get another job. Remember the 13 bus drivers who all went to Forest Coach Lines (now CDC) to drive timetabled buses?

Not a competition. But thanks for largely proving my point.

These people aren’t bus drivers. They won’t be starting with another company tomorrow (or even in the next few months) and they’ll be packing up and moving their entire families across the country or world once again. How about a little humility?

"Sunshine Coast Airport Pty Ltd is owned by Palisade Investment Partners, an independent specialist Australian infrastructure manager. Palisade acquired a 99 year lease for Sunshine Coast Airport from council in December 2017."
