This is a long thread and apologies if I have missed it, but do Qantaslink flights count for the status extension? Should I have received a notification are flying or is it a wait and see?

They do count. You won't receive any notification after the flight, you need to wait until 1-2 weeks prior to your membership year end date

My QF year expires on Monday 31st May. Today is 26th May and I've not had any contact or notification email from QF about status extension.

Originally this didn't worry me as my next flights were not until August to QLD and AKL. So I figured plenty of time to see what happens at end of May and contact QF if required.

Yesterday I've now got a work trip to Sydney next week, in June - so guessing I should probably call QF today to clarify what will happen when I turn up to the Melb J lounge on Wed morning - ie: will my status be rolled over automatically on 1st June. ???

I don't know why but I'm nervous about booking a Classic Reward flight to take advantage of this. Yes, I know they're eligible but for some reason a paid flight seems safer.

Short answer, yes. QF has never notified a member a week prior to their anniversary that they will be renewed, it just happens at the end of the month. You should see your renewed status on Monday, June 1st, along with current SCs removed. It is only on Monday that you should call if you have not been automatically renewed. Hopefully that will not be necessary.

Okay, that's a lot of pertinent information.

What expiry is showing on your digital QFF card? The Qantas Status Support page is a somewhat vague on when exactly you can expect the activation:

If it hasn't showed up by Monday I'd get on the horn. There are some posts in this thread from members with March & April expiries about when they have received their extensions.

For not having to call up/email QF to chase, the safest thing would be a brand new booking for a normal paid flight on QF. I would consider Classic Rewards the next safest option after that.

same boat, P1 expires 31st May, booked classic reward flights for July on 24th May, no change in status so far, thinking of ringing by Friday - though some replies here about waiting are calming to an extent :)

I would be interested in hear your outcome. I am another P1 however have taken a few QF flights already, I would have thought you will not know what happens until 1-3 June when the standard rollover process kicks in.

No, don’t ring on Friday. Your anniversary date is it until the 31st. Patience, as oft advised.

I think there's a bit of unwarranted worry about this. Extensions have already been applied in the previous month so we know the process is in place. It's not yet May 31. If it was me I wouldn't call until a few days into June* if things had not updated and then worry. for now it's not really warranted in my view to be worrying about this

* of course if I had flights booked in that first week of June and was wanting to use status benefits then that would be a different issue.

Remember I took the required flight prior to end of membership year but used an old gift PNR so didn’t automatically qualify? Sent an email and received a phone call offering me to book a flight prior to end of May (year ended 30 April) and they would keep WP status.

So I immediately booked and did the flight to Melb on Monday. (Adl - Mel - Adl) and back home within 6 hours.

(As an aside I did a Covid test at 5pm last night as I thought I’d get dragged into that 3 testing regime but learnt later that airport layovers don’t count. Test result negative texted just 6 hours later. It’s my second and while the first one was easy, this time it was awful. )

Anyway thought I’d have to follow up with Qantas but received a phone call this morning confirming that Qantas had put me back to WP. 👌Had to laugh when I went to PO box this morning and there was a shiny gold card. Oh well. Guess I’ll get another one shortly. Thought they’d stopped sending cards?

Yes I received a QF Gold Status card as completed the Fast Track.
I was too under impression that physical cards weren't to be sent anymore.
Received the Q-Bag tag also.
Maybe as a 1st timer QF Status member they wanted to impress me & give the Q-Tag as it's more permanent item.

Qantas send cards if you go up a level, or if you have money in or have recently used the Qantas Money facility.
