I am surprised to see that airfare to Egypt and Middle East are more expensive than Europe. But do you know when it is the best time to book the plane ticket to Egypt and Middle East. I’m thinking of going there in September

That surprises me, as the ME airline try to compete for through traffic.

I would book as soon as possible. I’m not aware of any regularity of sales for the Middle East airlines.

But check out fares originating in Bangkok or Jakarta - usually very cheap compared to those originating in Australia. Get an award flight or a cheap flight from Australia to your starting point.

If you don’t mind a dry flight, check out Saudia originating from Jakarta and ending in Europe. You might get it for as cheap as $3000 in business return. Plus a stopover in Saudi for a few days thrown in.

Depends. Looking at September china eastern is $1500 return. They also departed from T3 at Cairo, same as Egyptair, which seems to be a better overall experience than the main T2 at cairo.

SIN would be my pick to book a flight from. Much easier & cheaper to get to than BKK/CGK etc. Prices are ~equal or better.

Y return in September ~A$700, J ~$3000.

Works for both QF & VA flyers - QF can fly with EK or QR, VA can fly with SQ or QR. All have good lounges.

Also it might be cheaper to fly QR SIN-DOH-AUH vs SIN-DOH, so be creative.

When I was looking for November travel in December last year SIN was coming in at nearer $5k, though it would have been my preference if I could have gotten for $3K for sure

I agree that T3 at CAI is a better terminal all round, and I'd avoid EK if it involves a 777, due to the extremely poor business class seats.

I did Syd-Sin-Ist-Cai in Sq J (last leg was Egypt Air) using KrisFlyer pts 2 years ago.
