Yes its interesting this whole "travel" category (which gives double points). Apparently its up to how the merchant is registered as to where the charge appears. For example I've booked cruises direct with a certain cruise company, but the charge does not appear under the travel category (some other merchant category).
As the amounts can be substantial, I usually ring customer service and they can easily see that its a travel related charge and manually do the adjustment as a "goodwill" gesture.
