Booking child on a separate booking

Just seeing if anyone knows how to book my child and myself on separate bookings? Have a virgin flight credit to use, but not enough for my child also, so want to fly together with my child booked on an award booking, me booked using virgin travel bank?

How old is your child?

Assuming under age, you will likely need to call.

If the agent cannot book using travel bank, book while they are on the line and the agent should be able to link the bookings.

5 years old. They will be travelling with me though. Just ideally on a separate booking.

As @serfty mentioned you may have to call VA to arrange. There does not seem to be a way to book unless there is at least 1 adult traveling, the QF website is the same. I would explain what your endstate is and book it all at once and get the bookings linked. The child's booking may have to be created as an unaccompanied minor however since you are travelling hopefully the additional fees can be waived but I am not sure of how smart the VA booking engine is or if agents can override fees. If it works I would be inclined to bring along the required unaccompanied minors paperwork for check in incase VA check in staff have process to follow.
