Hi All..

I booked a flight from Melbourne - Hobart via the AMEX travel web site. It was mostly cause I had the $450 credit and wanted to use it.

The prices were exactly the same as if I booked via the Qantas web site.
However one strange thing I noticed was when I logon to the Qantas FF site. I could see the booking and everything was correct, however it said I didn't have any included baggage for my flights.

This is for both me, my wife and my infant child (who I know don't get luggage, but usually get 3 checked items like prams)

Has anyone else had this experience. Is this cause I booked via an agent. Should I call up amex and ask what is the deal, or do I need to purchase luggage.

any advice would be great.

Just checked my booking documents made with Amex for our trip PER/SID return early December. It doesn't show baggage detail either, but we took our usual suitcases and carry on bags with no issues.

Sounds like a gremlin in the QF system they don't have any fares that exclude baggage, so you'll be fine!

Thanks for those comments. I did think it was weird that Qantas had no included luggage. I didn't think it had become jetstar-lite.
I just logon to the Qantas website this morning and it now shows the luggage options, as well as the 3 infant items..
Crisis averted...

Just go into you booking and find the Qantas PNR (not the Amex reference). Log into your Qantas account and cross reference and you will find that it's all OK and that you have normal baggage limits.

This almost certainly won't be a problem. I find the QF website doesn't always report my luggage entitlements correctly even if I've booked with QF direct. I don't even bother looking at it any more.

Great discussion! I'm glad this came up as I would have had the same question when I go about using my travel credit. Just another question. Do you earn status credits and points when booking through Amex? Thanks!

Sure. Just the same as booking through any other travel agent.

I used my Amex credit to book Qantas flights and travelled earlier this month and luggage was included.

I used the AMEX travel credit a month or so ago to book return trip to USA. I noticed when selecting my seats in QF manage my booking that no luggage was included. Then noticed a week or so later that luggage had changed and now was included. I wasn't concerned as I know my luggage entitlements, figured it was just an issue with the AMEX system aligning with QF system etc. Seems like a common issue people are noticing
