I have booked some flights through a travel agent on SA (domestic flights within Africa).

My TA sent me the booking reference (6 character alpha numeric code) and this works for checkmytrip.com

However, when I go to the flysaa.com website and try and manage my bookings (for seat selection), the system can't find my booking.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

It means that SA don't use Amadeus as their GDS. When you log in to checkmytrip.com with the PNR you've been given, you should see something that mentions "Airline confirmation number(s):" - try that code on the SA website.

Some airline websites need the reservation to be ticketed before they will let you fiddle with things - eg seat requests.

If you have booked and paid it can take a few days for the eticket number to filter into that airline's system.

I have found this to be an issue with CX flights on a QF or AY booking - but after a few days everything worked.

Also, upgrading on AA - often AA will take over the booking and reissue the whole reservation with a new AA ticket number starting with 001. It takes anything up to a week for this new ticket number to filter back to Qantas before they see it.

SAA use a different CRS to the agent, who is on Amadeus. You will need to contact them to ask for the SAA PNR.

Thanks for your help.

I contacted my travel agent and he says that the SAA reference number is the same. Quite frustrating for me really.

Is anyone able and willing to look up my PRN and pass me back the SAA reference number if I PM them?

Thanks

IIRC SAA uses Galileo. I can give it a go looking up.

The only reason I asked is if you booked it through FC, I could have got a contact to look it up.

Sorry I cant help

Call SAA and get them to retrieve your booking by name/flight/city pair/date then once retrieved ask them for the SAA pnr number.

My guess is the agent just isn't with it and may not understand the concept that even though they have one pnr eg Gailileo, Amadeus, Sabre etc that they have booked all your flights into each airline still has their own unique pnr (pax name record) for their own res system where booking is hosted.

Makes you wonder though if the TA can't get that bit correct what are they doing with the rest of your travel arrangements?
