I am looking at premium economy fare to USA. On Kayak I am offered a fare about $600 cheaper than I can see on AIRNZ site for the same dates. I am suspicious about how genuine the KAYAK site is. Any experience out there.

Kayak is definitely genuine but they’re more of an aggregator. They’ll likely link you through to another site for the actual booking process. There are many stories of people booking through third party sites for a lot cheaper, but when it comes to any flight changes or in disrupts, you’re really on your own and can potentially get burnt. Personally I wouldn’t do it unless I knew the site was reputable.

So I checked through and the booking was to be with BYOJET but today the price is $200 dearer per person. I might wait to see if AIRNZ has a sale.

NZ has (had?) a Black Friday sale but unsure on the routes. Check the website, I picked up flights for my in-laws ADL-xAKL-WLG return for AUD150pp cheaper than QF.

I'd also be cautious about some online travel agents (OTA's) and the way they display fares. Often it'll be showing cheaper, but when you get to the final screen it'll say something like "the fare you originally held has since sold out, the new prize is $XYZ". So make sure you're comparing actual final prices for any booking method.
