Heading to Fiji for 1 yr wedding anniversary in November and I've heard that to get the spa treatment at the Qantas F Lounge that you need to book ahead. Is this true? or can you just rock up and the Mrs can get a treatment before we fly?

I'm assuming that they would have 1 possibly 2 people working in the spa room and it wouldn't take too much for it to get busy.

Wondering how anyone has gone at the F Lounge?

Hey Snowmoo - as a QF WP unless you are on a QF flight number you wont be able to access the F lounge.

Also as a Pax not travelling in F you can NOT book ahead. The Spa is only open during "business hours" basically and it is first in best dressed. Mrssimongr had no trouble getting a treatment though.

Yeah I'm WP and we're traveling on QF391 which is a codeshare Air Pacific flight. So sounds like first in best dressed to me. (Won't go so far as to wear the coat and tails though!)

That's great - mrssimongr thought the spa was stunning - an absolute oasis!

G`Day to all,

Firstly, I have just joined the community and liked to to say a big hello to one and all!

I have travelled a number of times out of Melbourne with my wife (both WP members) on a First class ticket and we have always had a call from Qantas a day or two before we fly asking us if we wish to pre book and use the Spa.

Might be an idea to perhaps phone Qantas and just ask if it is possible book?

It's only possible to book if you're flying in F. Otherwise, as simongr said, it's first-in best-dressed.

FWIW, I've had no problem getting a neck/shoulder massage at short notice, usually within an hour or so. Never been able to get a longer massage though - those always seem to be booked by F pax.

Cheers,
- Febs.

PS: Yes, the spa is absolutely amazing. I'm not the type to visit a dayspa usually, but hey...it's free, and is very relaxing. :)

Note also you only get the call if on a booked F ticket - not a points upgrade.

Hey Ya'll

Simongr - if there's only 2 classes on the flight (Mr & Mrs! J next Tue to AKL), do you know if we can book Mrs! in for a spa?

Cheers

Mr!

:D

My understanding is that prebooking and the other F benefits (pre-filled immigration docs and kerbside check in at MEL) are only available to ticketed QF F class pax - I am not even sure if they extend to Award bookings though I assume that they would.

I use the kerbside checkin regardless of booking class - never had the pre-filled immigration doc's tho - will get Mrs! to ring and try and book - will let you all know how it goes...

Oh yeah, I also checked Mum! through cerbside recently :)

I've used the spa a number of times. Very nice although having never used one before using the QF one I've got nothing for comparison.

I was able to book once my points upgrade to FC came through. Other times I've used the first in best dressed. For one I was there at the time the spa opened as was able to get straight in. The last time, it was full so I left me name. About 30 minutes later I was called as a spot had opened. So even if there are no available slots, make sure you leave you name.

Have never managed to get a 1 hour slot, only ever 30 mins - But as Febs said, anything you can get is great and it's free!:D

The Deal is you can only book ahead if you are flying F Class, regardless of your QF status, otherwise it is pot luck. We have never missed out, but we check in specifically 2 hours ahead to give ourselves the best shot. They have a number of staff, but it is very popular. If you cant get the whole 1 hour deal, settle for a 30 minute neck and shoulder, or leg/foot massage

Yes I´ve noticed that J &Y passangers use the kerbside check-in at Melbourne without any problems it seems. It could be that they are WP and Qantas does not wish to upset these pax´s. (quite rightly so!).

On saying that if you are flying F and have the pre-filled immigration docs etc., waiting, they (the check-in staff) do seem to give you preferential service in my experience (also quite rightly so).

Mrs! tried to book a SPA for Thursday, No was the answer. She argued that we were flying J and would have been flying F but the flight was 2 class only, therefore we were in the highest tier available...

No....

Too bad, now it's hit and miss

Mr!

I agree 100% with djsflynn, it's what I do, works everytime, not always the full hour job, but, always something works out, and the QF F Lounge is not a hardship !!

Thanks for all the comments. As AP is only a two class airline, we'll just have to get there early and hope for the best. We're getting there at around 11:50 for a 1:55pm departure so 2 hours should be more than enough time to get a 30min rub down for Mrs Moo.
