Hopefully a few will find this a quite handy website. I'm focusing on VA but can't see why this isn't applicable to QF as well.
Been trying to work out how to get 80 SCs to keep the Gold status bump I got with the Coles MC deal.
I couldn't work out any way to get the Virgin Australia website to give me anything like a decent SC run.
Amex travel was a bit more helpful in that at least you could see booking class codes a bit easier, though it was a bit annoying in that it only showed the first flight was say elevate but the second flight could be a getaway class.
Did a bit of googling and started to play around with itamatrix though I knew you couldn't make a booking from it.
Stumbled across this blog post
A New Way To Book Flights Directly From ITA Matrix - The Frequent Miler
So the cheapest Elevate fare class for Virgin is Q
Since I'll be in Melbourne I'd like a cheap MEL <OOL> SYD flight with both as Q fare class - yeah I want those SCs at the least cost possible without taking up too much of my time.
So this is what I entered into ita matrix
the 3.10PM flight works out quite well for me
now all you need to do is copy everything from itinerary down to Total Airfare & Taxes
now you go to www.bookwithmatrix.com and paste that into section near the top of the screen.
I'm assuming you'd pay your credit cards forex fee but I'm surprised that it's showing the price is about $22 cheaper than what the itamnatrix website showed.
I've not actually gone through and made a booking as yet as I'm still working out travel dates with my move to Melbourne for work.
This can certainly save you a lot of time in searching for a decent status run.
