You know what a great item would be to sell .. inflatable bags for bottles, sold at the gate for a minimal charge. The bags can then be loaded into the hold and collected via the oversized counters at the destination ... I'm sure people would pay for that service, if charged rationally.

..with several large suitcases dumped/dropped on top of them...

Without any malice intended. Judging by the damage our checked bags seem to get nearly every outing. It takes a lot for the airline elastic attached address labels to come off - and on the two flights this year they came of both bags one time, and one bag the next.
