BOSE QC15 problem

Buy them in the USA for $ 250. However, I don't think the sound is any better than my old $ 100 set of non BOSE QC15 Headphones that didn't need batteries, and I just compared the Noise Cancelling quality and there doesn't appear to be much difference.

My 3 year old QC15's died, tried a few different batteries, no indicator light or sound.
Returned to Bose who are exchanging for a new pair, $225 beer coupons later.

Asked what the defect was with my pair, condensation in the battery compartment.
Recommended to remove the battery when not in use, especially in humid areas.

I think I may have an answer to some of the problems people have had with a background buzzing.
I find that if I'm using the two-pronged adapter to connect to the plane's audio system AND the headphone cord with the in-line control/microphone I get the buzzing. But if I use the other headphone cord (ie. no microphone/controls) I get no buzzing.

Not sure if this is something wrong with my unit or a broader issue, but it is definitely something I've noticed on a few flights within the last year.

Semi-related, but the volume on Channel 1 (734/738)s is a killer when watching the news etc. I actually find that turning "off" the headphones and cranking the volume control to full will actually deliver adequate sound.

All other channels I have the dial turned down to minimums......

Thanks so much for posting this fix! I am now using the wire without in-line control and the buzzing sound is gone. It was so bad that I had stopped using my QC15 with the inflight system.

Hi ALH, can you advise where you have seen them for $250 in the US? I've only seen them for $299. Headed there in a couple of weeks time and keen to pick some up.

cheers
