Although you now seem to have your sights set on New Farm, I have many connections in Brisbane (particularly in Fortitude Valley - the entertainment district) that could help you out on your next visit - just something to keep in mind when you next decide to visit
As to suggestions of other venues (which, again, you may not use during this visit):
-Cloudland is very classy and elegant but without appearing, for the lack of a better word, snobby. Their dress code is strictly enforced after 6pm (so you don't get the 18-21 year-olds sporting t-shirts, ripped jeans and running shoes - but rather people that are at least dressed to smart casual standards at a minimum). They are open during the day as a fine dining restaurant (and bar too - menu on their website), and at night it turns into a very nice club. They can open the ceiling to show the stars, and can also retract it in poor weather... there's an indoor waterfall too
They have a VIP room on level 2 which is close to the bar (but also comes with waiter service - usually a $3k min spend, but that can very easily be negotiated to $1.5k for a smaller group)... for larger groups, they also have a private bar and lounge in the basement (very nice indeed). The bar is well-stocked and includes a number of premium spirits and (French) champagnes.
-Lychee Lounge in West End is brilliant for coughtails!!! They have some food too
-Press Club in the Valley is nice with live music (and has a VIP room), though after about 10pm the music is wayyyyyyyyyyy too loud to hear people properly, so not too good if it's background music you're looking for.
-The Brunswick Social is probably the only place in the Valley that has reasonable food until the wee hours (otherwise your only choices are McDonalds, Red Rooster, and the usual kebab/pizza shops), and they also have a bar.
Anyway, just my favourite Brizzy venues in case you were interested!
All accept Amex with no surcharge too
