It's the image of the thong & T shirt (that's the gear NOT advised) that is guiding me at this stage. Makes it easy!! Not Gold Coast wear!
so, packing for travel & Flounge Thursday, dinner Thursday, dinner Friday, lunch Saturday, light supper Saturday, wine tour Sunday, lunch Monday, travel Tuesday. And then whatever happens next!!

Looking at this I think I need to pack a size or 2 larger for the latter stages of BossReggie's Excellent Do!!! :D

When I landed at AKL today it was about 16 degrees. There are locals still about in T Shirt and shorts

I spent last week in the Tongariro national Park. to give tou an idea of how cold it was, when we came out to the car on the morning of our departure, it was covered in ice (not frost, ice). so when I got back to Auckland, I thought 16 was absolutely tropical

16° in AKL is almost tropical - 'tis a weird place. There is so much moisture floating/blowing arounf in the air ..

I guess it's different for QLDers as they are use to such level of humidity, but at higher temperatures - so it seems 'cold' to them.

Don't forget to pack the Ipad.

Looking forward to it, it should be fun.

Friday morning. QF8/QF55 departing BNE 06:30 arriving AKL 14:35

I think you'll find that in New Zealand 14:35 is no longer the morning, and is in fact the afternoon :P.
I know you're probably reffering to your departure, but for me fly in = arrival, so I got a bit confused.

The worst part for me is that I have to work friday...

+1

And for some reason QF49 (1825 SYD-AKL) isn't operating this Friday so I get to fly on NZ for the first time (and on a 763) :)

No shadow unfortunately!

I may regret making this offer but if people want to PM me their flights over and hotels I will try and make a list on the thread.

Format:
Day Date Flight# From-To dep-Arr
Hotel

e.g. my flight over is:

Thur 26th DJ8026 MEL-AKL 1835-0005
Novotel one night then Hilton three nights

This could get messy so please use this format.

Bugger. Looks like QF8 has changed from the original "F sold as J" config. When I booked 1A there was no 1B, but now I see this

QF8.jpg

Looks like J seats to me, although I can't find this config anywhere on seatguru or the QF website.

Might be time to head upstairs.

Also, 1B better be a shadow, otherwise wtf with someone selecting that seat when the rest of the cabin is open??

Are there any dare-devils amongst the AKL trip group?

I'm thinking about doing the SkyTower Sky Jump (see SkyJump! Auckland) on the Monday morning before flying back Monday afternoon and as well as the ridiculously cheap industry rate they've offered me, they've also extended an offer for one only friend or family member to join me at the child rate of NZD175, just thought i'd see if any adrenalin junkies might be keen.
