Here's a question for the brains trust that I've always wondered...

How does Qantas manage seating on journeys with two segments to keep seats free for through-passengers.

Here's an example... let's take F on QF1.... One group of passengers selects half the seats in F for SYD-SIN and another group selects the other half of seats for SIN-LHR.

Although only have the seats are sold, there are no seats left which are available for allocating for SYD-LHR.

How does Qantas juggle this?

(Hopefully this Q makes sense)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If you are booked SYD-LHR, QF is able to split assign seats, eg. SYD-SIN 13K, SIN-LHR 14K. You cannot do this online - either a travel agent or the call centre can do it.
