Also, is anyone just a bit suspicious why there are two new accounts posting on the same incident with almost the same wording style? Are the two related?
I have confirmed that ridgeback and lillyjak are in fact two separate people that were part of the same group so there is no need for people to worry about that as an issue.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I think that if an airport parking service claimed to take "only 9 to 12 minutes to get to and from the airport" and that "the Shuttle runs every 15 minutes", I'd have an expectation that it should take 30 minutes or less to get to the airport (plus the time to park and unload the car). If it actually took 50 minutes and there were no other unexpected factors (eg a traffic accident on the way), I'd be pretty upset with the service.

Just checked the website (probably like you did) and saw that the shuttle is indeed supposed to run every 15 minutes.

This means Kingsford Smith Airport Parking does have a case to answer indeed, although again why did the OP wait and not say anything?

Assuming they arrived at 7.21pm and let's say it took 25 minutes for them to get to the airport. That gives 6.56pm give or take, then subtract 15 minutes for the maximum waiting time, which is then 6.41pm. The OP waited an extra 10 minutes before they got moving, when they probably should've been making noises at the 15 minute mark as a minimum gesture!

In reality, if the OP had arrived at 6.30pm, add 15 minutes waiting time gives 6.45pm then 25 minutes to the airport is 7.10pm, i.e. just before the gazetted cut-off time. Moral of the story: the OP was really cutting it fine, although 25 minutes to the airport is admittedly unlikely unless the traffic was really awful. With a more realistic 15 minutes, the OP would have had at least 10 minutes to spare. So there is certainly a case for service failure on the part of the parking service, but the OP could've really helped themselves in more ways than one.

I don't understand this 20 minute cut-off thing, Virgin Australia/Blue has always had a 30 minute cut-off since the day they started...

Its made very clear on the itinerary as well...

I do not want to be critical but I simply cannot understand why someone would arrive at an offsite carpark at Eagle Farm with only 40 minutes to go until check-in closes and rely on the services of a third party to get to the airport.

Anyway Kingsford Smith parking may have something to answer for but could well be a case of striking this one off as a valuable lesson.

Slightly OT: Last time I checked the prices for off airport parking at BNE there didn't seem to be a huge saving over ParkLong at the terminal, which we've subsequently used a lot. Seeing experiences like these, I'm glad: the vagaries of the Gateway Motorway are enough to worry about! There's a lot to be said for getting out of car and walking straight into terminal.

I see recommendations for Andrews and BAP: users of same do you reckon the saving outweighs the relative inconvenience?

Back on topic, if the parking didn't live up to its website promise, the OP might have had some recourse to the Qld consumer affairs/tribunal (can't recall the name) however two problems are: not making any noise after 15 mins elapsed with no ride to terminal, and the probably inadequate lead time from arrival to flight, which several have noted. So I agree one to put down to experience. If the guy was rude though, sounds like a good reason to go elsewhere next time though...

Cheers Skip

Well I think the curtain is about to fall on this thread (for various reasons).

Interesting how the company got whim of the complaint. In addition, they are not taking this lightly, so it seems.

Re: Response fom Kingsford Smith

We did receive a request from kingsfordsmith (which we believe is a genuine representative of Kingsford Smith Parking) for the names and address of the original poster. As per our Privacy Policy (The Australian Frequent Flyer - Privacy), we never make this information available. (Incidentally, we don't record the physical address. This is an online site and we have no need for it.)

AFF has no position on the claim of the original party or the counter claim by Kingsford Smith Parking. This is a public forum. Provided a post satisfies our guidelines (ie. not commercial/vulgar/offensive) and does not breach the laws of the land it is acceptable.

As with anything else you read on the internet (or anywhere else for that matter), the reader shouldn't automatically assume that material posted on a public forum is fact.

kingsfordsmith also requested that we delete this thread as it is having an impact on his business. As the thread is now part of the "public record", we won't be doing that. But, I have edited the original post to include the response from kingsfordsmith. I advise members to read the whole thread before coming to any conclusions.

I am now going to close this thread. If anyone has new information which they would like to add to this topic, please PM admin or any of the mods for consideration.

Update on 20 July 3pm: ridgeback and lillyjak requested that we delete their posts. We have complied with their request.
