Is there any interest in having an AFF dinner night after the Flyertalk AGM? I know it is the Flyertalk AGM but there is a significant presence from AFF'ers as well. We had one last year and it was attended by

The venue is The Mill Hotel Bar & Restaurant. It is located on Wickham Terrace, on the corner of Bartley St, next to Brisbane Private Hospital, opposite the old Tower Mill and ~100 metres from Jacobs Ladder.

If there is enough interest we can meet up there at ~7:30pm and we need to order before 8:30pm. I would also need to let them know roughly how many people are turning up so they can be prepared.

I will investigate. Normally I'm an automatic with this, but I will be with SWMBO so I need to evaluate this.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Count me in (two of us) if it goes ahead 20Feb as I've got days off then.

Cheers

I should be in, though I’m unsure of how we’re getting from the QP to the Mill.

More than likely, we'll either have transport for people via car, or bunches of people can share a taxi. Last ditch, you could probably use a CoachTrans shuttle.

Four people in a taxi should pay between $10 - $15 each inc c/c charges for the one who proffers their card.

CoachTrans ISTR costs $12 per passenger good for carriage between either of the terminals to the CBD.

Airtrain is probably an option if our AGM doesn't go too late, but like CoachTrans will be schedule constrained and is the most expensive of the public transport options at $14.50.

This is starting to look like a great evening ahead.

Coachtrans is now $14.

Airtrain is now $14.50 (?) although if you purchase a book of 10 tickets it costs $130. I will probably have a fresh book of airtrain tickets by then if anyone is interested in purchasing for $13 each.

Also if anyone from Brisbane needs to learn a trick or two on how to save on airtrain fares from/to the airport then please have a word to me during the next Brisbane drinks night. What will be discussed cannot be discussed on any thread in an open forum like AFF. I will not respond to PM's.

We really need to leave the AGM by 7:00pm at the latest and plan to be at the Mill by around 7:30pm. Please remember that we need to order by 8:30pm. I will let management know the number of people turning up so they will be expecting us and hopefully will stay open a little later than normal although I think they are open until midnight on Saturdays anyway....

What time are we getting to the QP at? I’m thinking it’ll be best (cheapest) for me to have a coke at breaky creek, and free beer at the QP :p

Depends on how long you can go without a drink, but that would be an economically favourable idea.

Also, Breaky Creek does have the well-known beer on the wood, however completely up to you if you feel like having it (I believe it is just xx_X in a wooden keg, right?)

Last couple of years I think people have migrated from BC to QP between 2 and 3PM! (I know that's not precise, but is the best my memory can muster...)

Last year serfty and I got there around 2:00pm and the only other person there at that time was SFSC who flew up from Newcastle that day.

I am planning to get there around the same time again and it is probably a good idea to save some money on beer at Breakfast Creek and stock up at the Qantas Lounge. ;)

Geez, no doubt about you lot - you certainly know how to work it!

I've gotta bring a couple of photos my brother sent me today of our trip to the US back in 1994 as I need to find out what kind of plane it is. It's from the Pima Air Museum in Tucson AZ of I think what was Air Force One back in 1963. Apparently LBJ was onboard this plane at the time JFK was pronounced dead so I guess mid-flight it became Air Force One. The rego is 33240 & was the last a/c type preceeding the jet age.

The other photo is a blonde OBB looking like a space cadet in front on the Boeing 777 at the launch/roll out at Boeing SEA April 1994 after a pre-arranged gategrash of the said event that was somewhat overshadowed by the untimely passing of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain.

See y'all Saturday.

Cheers in advance.

Count me in John, I have to go to Townville for the day but as long as my flight is on time I should be there by 7.30pm

I should be there,

If we can't find someone with a car then we should be able to organise a taxi to get to The Mill from the airport.

We arrived at the the QP just after 3:00pm, I keep years of phone bills. :-|

TSV-BNE QF 975 arrive at 6:25pm; you will still find most of us trying to drink the Brisbane QP dry. due to this event. 8th Annual AGM - BNE QP Sat 20 Feb 2010
