Afternoon all;

I must have missed this one first time around! As it so happens, I will be passing through Brisbane on Wednesday night, although not arriving until 2105 ( after a long day starting with my first flight at 0605 from MEL  ).

Is this bar close to the Hilton?

And can someone pm me a mobile number I can call if I make it in time and am able to drop by for a bevvie?

Which flight arrives at 9:05pm; yes we probably could hang around until then.

QF1079 from ISA gets in at 2105, but please don't stay longer than you otherwise would just to wait for me! I will be reliant on flights being on time, and will have spent 16+ hours in the air and in airports so may well be nearly unconscious when I land. So I will try to drop by but I would hate to waste your time if I ended up not making it.

I will have a work colleague with me; for drinks night so add another 1.

Will probably arrive late and leave early but there is no way I could miss a Brisbane drinks night.

Will have to download some photos from the weekend.

Did I tell you how much fun it was. :p yeah it was good.

Should be there (or back here actually) ~5:30pm.

My sister will be joining me again, after all, it’s a cooked dinner.
I am in the middle of cooking tomorrow night's dinner. Chicken and rice soup with egg and lemon. Delicious.

Will, I live here so if you feel like catching up for a drink or 2 after you arrive from Mt Isa that would be no problem just let me know beforehand. It is ~10 minute walk from the Hilton....

We’ll actually be making some chicken stock tomorrow and having chicken soup on Thursday.
What is that about great minds think alike? ;)

As it is drinks night tomorrow night I will not have time to cook so I cooked today. When I do cook I usually make enough for more than 1 meal so I will probably be having chicken soup on Thursday as well. I love chicken soup.

Do you make it Greek style, Avgolemono?
That is exactly how I make it. I use 1 or 2 eggs and squeeze in a couple of lemons and then mix in boiled chicken stock. When the soup is ready mix the Avgolemono back into the soup to give the soup a nice yellowish colour and great taste.

But you can only make one serve, as it’ll curdle in the fridge?

I’m sure if I tried such a recipe I’d completely screw it up.

On the contrary. It actually tastes better when refrigerated and then re-heated up a day or two later. The trick is not to microwave it when re-heating. Put chicken soup in a saucepan add some water and bring to a boil. Let it cool down a bit and then add some salt and more lemon and you have a great chicken soup.

I’m sure if I tried such a recipe I’d completely screw it up.
Why? It is a simple recipe and does not require a genius. If I can cook chicken soup with Avgolemono OK then I am sure you can as well.

Not sure how I missed this thread but anyway......

...... its today and I *still* haven't made it to a Brisvegas drinks night (all those steps!!!!)

.... trying to work it out so that I can attend, but I work right down at the gardens, and have to collect my car from Rocklea at some point..... maybe I'll do that at lunch.... so if i do manage to get my car first and drop it home, look out for me, i'm wearing the red and white striped dress :D

Will be good to see you there, most likely we’ll be on a table out the front, but only if someone else hasn’t taken it first.

I'll be a little late for a change. The train broke down shortly after leaving the Gold Coast, complete with smoke drifting past the windows, a burning smell and a strange clunk from the wheels. It took about 30 mins of waiting at Coomera for a new train. The beer will be that much sweeter now!

I will be late as well. The 5:09pm service has been cancelled and the next train is the 5:35pm. Should be there around 6:00pm but I am not feeling well....
