Are you sure you are going to be on time? I have heard flights from South Lake Tahoe are generally late. By the way which carrier flies TVL-BNE direct? Unless you are actually in Townsville and only have to fly TSV-BNE. ;)

You been told today?

;)

Mr!

:)

Have added a post to the community page of FT.

Some of you I don't know if you have FT accounts so I just left you off the list.

I have listed Serfty as Special Guest of Honour. :)

Just a question / statement - I thought this was an AFF thing?

I understand that there is cross pollenation between the two sites by members, but I don't recall this as being called an AFF & FT Drinkines evening...

I for one don't post on FT and seldom go to that site unless someone directs from a thread here... I don't know that I am particularly comfortable with this and hanging out with a bunch of strangers whom I shall never have any interaction with (unlike the bunch of strangers I interact with on this site) - my personal jury is now out on my attendance...

Generally if they read FT then they read AFF I know more people read FT than AFF well I did anyway until about 2 years ago.

Its also a note to anyone who might be traveling to Brisbane at other times in the year and we can schedule a Brisbane Drinks night for them.

I wouldn't worry about it, besides, you're more likely to meet someone who has never posted on AFF but lurked for a while and decided to make an appearance, than the same or a registered member of FT only.

It's good that people can come out of the woodwork for these things. It's good to meet new people.

A stranger is stranger regardless of whether they post on AFF or Flyertalk. That being said though I find Flyertalk more hostile and try to stay from it as much as possible....

Yes agreed, but, strangers whith whom you converse even through a blog site are just a little less than a stranger compared to a total stranger with whom you have never communicated...

Hung Jury at the moment

True but I wouldn't worry about it. I have met many people at airports or lounges who I have never met before and the only communication from them was a PM. It does not make it any safer and it does not make them any less of a stranger.

From memory we have not had one visitor to the drinks' nights that posts exclusively on Flyertalk. Bundy Bear did organise a special event for a Flyertalk visitor from out of town, specifically a US citizen studying in Poland, and we had no issues.

Safety is not too much of an issue for me - I am having troble expressing my point of view - maybe over a beer next week I'll get it across ;)

Have you been looking at yourself in a mirror after a few drinks JohnK??:shock:

I should be able to make it until 6pm, but will have to go and tuck my daughter and wife into bed.

On the beer view, I may be tall and dark (well, greying slightly ), but I don't think I'm handsome. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, not the behelden.

I think that's a point for your wife and daughter to decide. (Daughters if you're new bambino turns out to be a girl; if it's a boy then no biggie - sons don't care too much :)).

Aaahh, to hark back to the beer ads from the days of old......

BEER......helping ugly people get laid since the 1950s

On the subject of beer...

All right brain, you don't like me, and I don't like you. But let's just get me through this, and I can get back to killing you with beer.

I'll try and make it early there to catch LW, but I can't make any promises - lots of work here at the moment trying to tie up a case study.
