It was a pleasure to catch up with everyone again and meet some new people. I believe we had 18 turn up which would be a record for Brisbane drinks, or any AFF drinks for that matter.

Bris is pretty gloomy today.
As opposed to any other day? ;)

I believe we had 18 people at the drinks tonight ... Now that's a drinks night!

Good to see the regulars again, and meet new people. Has been a while since we've been kicked out due to closing!

A pity about the wicked witch who works there :!:

Don't know who you're talking about :D

(PS, samh008/awilcockson... What were the comments being made after we were told the place was closing?)

Thanks to all that attended, it was a good night. :D

The next Brisbane drinks night is planned for Wednesday 21 September 2011.

In the mean time we have the http://www.australianfrequentflyer....brisbane-drinks-24th-august-2011-a-31819.html and we thank the Brisbane Virgin Lounge staff for their hospitality. It will be interesting to see what Qantas announce on August 24 and what Virgin Australia are planning in the future.

Hi All,

Glad it was a great night.

I have a really bad feeling i will be away on the 21st September at a training course in Melb.

I’ve always found her to be one of the better staff members there.

(PS, samh008/awilcockson... What were the comments being made after we were told the place was closing?)

If you’ll recall earlier, she mentioned that we could re-arrange the tables however we liked, so long as there was a wide enough thoroughfare for others, and incase of a fire etc.

When the tables were later moved, she again mentioned that the table was too far out in the passage, and was then given some language back. Something that shouldn’t have happened perhaps, as we’d been told once already about the tables jutting out too far.

She’s very happy we always come, and wanted to make sure she could get tables organised better for us in the future, also noting we usually came on a Wednesday. I said we’d be back on the 21st September and she said she’d note that down for us. :)

Obviously there’s no point this turning into a he-said, she-said thing, but that’s what happened.

Sam - for the Bhut Jolokia goodness try

chilli seed bank
Wildfire Chilli ... The one stop hot shop! The World's hottest chilli seeds, products and sauces

Unfortunately my favourite supplier fireworksfoods.com.au does not stock those seeds

Thanks for that, there looks to be some good varieties there. I doubt I’ll have them growing a a sizeable crop by the next drinks night, but perhaps we’ll need a taste test on the Gold Coast in the future ;)

BYO milk + yoghurt :p

I'm trying to work out the best way to re-arrange tables there... keeping in mind the needs of others (ie staff, other patrons etc). When things are warmer we could head out to the balcony and re-arrange to our heart's content - but that's still 1-2 months away probably.

Something for all to ponder.

Virgin might be planning something in the not-to-distant future
Is Virgin planning an AFF drinks night?

I’ve always found her to be one of the better staff members there.
Not meaning to be rude but she has been a fruit loop in all the time I have been in Brisbane.

Where are the pics? If there's no pics it didn't happen.
Some people do not want their photos plastered all over the internet.

Most drinks nights used to be outside. Somewhere along the way they went inside and have stayed there for a long time now. Time to go back outside....

An L or V would have sufficed, but instead the tables were staggered, and so they jutted out a bit too far into the passage. Perhaps if we’d arranged them at a 45º angle instead of the 90º we had they wouldn’t have jutted out so much.

I’m happy to move back outside… when it warms up… unless they have those fancy gas heaters? :D

Come to think of it I actually told the bar manager the day before that we would be there. He asked how many? And I said around 16 people if the previous month was any indication.

The day after our drinks night he did mention that they should have been more organised for us given the information I had given him the day before.

Anyway I still do not believe we were blocking the aisle in any way and the simplest solution would have been to move the single table against the wall with 2 chairs away from the rest of tables.
