Brisbane hotel quarantine (live)

But were they already paging your name?
Ahh, the "personalised" board calls. They make your heart skip and quicken your pace, particularly from the lounge to Gate 41 at Brisbane.

Thanks @oz_ally for taking us along your journey over the past two weeks. Your super-positive attitude has rubbed off onto a few of us stuck at home.

I've only had the personalised boarding call once. A number of years ago my daughter and I were going to Sydney so had to transit via Brisbane. No lounge for me back then. The 2 of us were waiting at the Gate that was on our printed Boarding Pass (back in the dark ages of no Virgin app). We were both engrossed in our phones/iPads etc but I was thinking it's getting very close to boarding but there aren't many people waiting at this gate which was 40 something near the food court. Finally I heard our names being called for boarding 🙄 Our gate had been changed from the one on the boarding pass and we had no idea. Our new gate was one of the ones down in the "cul de sac" so we had to bolt but we made it. And being the last ones on that everyone knew they were waiting on we had a few side-eyes as we walked down the aisle 😏😂

@oz_ally, I went MIA for the last couple of weeks (birthdays in the family including mine, Fathers Day, etc); so apologies I didn't get to celebrate with you on your release day. But the information here is valid whilst COVID is an issue, so I'm sure many more will read it over the intervening years.

By now, hopefully, you'll have also had your August 31 set of flights so you'll be a newly minted Gold :D Welcome to the Club.

Off to listen to the Podcast - as I've been the subject of one as well, and I echo your sentiments about @AFF Editor. When I catch up with him next, we'll have a drink for you.

Thanks @QF WP :) Yes I am now Gold. I got my fancy line-up moment when I took my flight back from my last quick trip. And of course the Priority Bag Drop. Do we still get bag tags posted? I had them for Silver. I must remember to sign up for one of the Hotel deals too (Hilton or the other one). I read somewhere that it's best to wait to sign up for it just before using it the first time so as not to waste it. I do stay at Hilton sometimes. I have another trip planned this week - just another short one to go so see a show at The Powerhouse in Brisbane. My son is a stage manager so most of my trips are to go see his shows. It's this one in case anyone would like to know - especially if you are a doggo lover 🐶🐕🦮🐕‍🦺🐩 Let's Be Friends Furever - Brisbane Powerhouse

Yes, you should get a Gold 100 year anniversary bag tag! Agree on not triggering Hilton offer until you know you are going to be able to utilise it - as a greyhound owner, I think I an safely say that I'm a dog lover ;).

Sorry for only discovering this thread now. I did HQ at Rydes in Fortitude Valley earlier this year and share a good amount of memories/experiences that you described.

I often reflect that a few years ago we could never imagine the cost of travel we face now and hopefully in just a few month's time it will all be a thing of the past.

I've been meaning to do an update about my quarantine.

  • I was released on 23 August 2021.
  • I received my Quarantine invoice on 08 February 2022
  • I had 30 days to put in a fee waiver if I wished to do so. I thought I may as well give it a crack.
  • I received an email letting me know my waiver was approved on 24 August 2022.

I was so grateful. 🥰 I really wasn't sure I would get it and if I had to pay - sobeit. 💸

I took pleasure at the time that QLD funded my overnight stop over flying NTL-BNE-DRW when QLD had closed its border to NSW.

Free hotel and dinner, can't complain about that! (less than 24 hours pax didn't have to pay)
