Mother in law flew SYD-SIN-LHR and was then supposed to go direct to Santorini all on BA last week. Last leg was cancelled, so they were put up overnight. All good so far.

However, they were rebooked on Iberia not BA, via Madrid - got to Madrid and onwards flight cancelled. BA staff not interested as it is now an Iberia problem. Another overnight. On next Iberia flight, they diverted to Crete due to landing gear issue. Another overnight. Finally in Santorini 2 days late, and BA trying to wash their hands of it. Think travel insurance will have to be used in this case. Seems BA is going downhill...

Oh wow  should be BA it's on the original ticket itinerary

I have mentioned the EU compensation to her but she just wants to enjoy her (shortened) holiday and fight it out with insurers when she gets home!

Travel insurance will cover additional hotel/food expenses, but won't provide direct cash compensation. Only EU261 will do that.

I'm not sure what I missed in the article? The main change seems to be that on flights of 7 hours or so, the second meal service will be replaced by a snack-basket offering. Still an open bar. Still one hot main meal. Not sure of the need for a second hot meal 4 hours after the first one?
