What is it with BA and their stupid re-pricing at check-in policy?
...and those fatty bacon rolls they serve. :x
Obviously they do not buy their bacon from Woolworths because if they did they would be serving lean bacon with very little fat.

How do I know for certain that if I book and pay for SYD-BKK//SIN-SYD at the price you mention that I won't get asked to pay for 2 full priced one-way fares SYD-BKK and SIN-SYD when I try to check-in. I remember reading on "Libya it is then" thread on FT about all the possible bad things that can happen travelling BA.

Every airline is the same. You deviate from the written rules of a promotion/fare type and you are liable to be repriced. May not happen, but is still a possibility.

The best example of this is children's fares. There is nothing stopping me from buying a Children's fare and then using that fare to fly. It's likely BA would be upset when I checked in, and I could be repriced upon checking in. Qantas would be the same, so would Cathay, Air NZ, Emirates etc. The website allows me to book that ticket, but technically I can't...

The WT+ class on offer has the following ticketting rule:

"COMBINATIONS ARE FOR CARRIER QF/BA/AO OPEN JAWS/ROUND TRIPS/CIRCLE TRIPS FARES MAY BE COMBINED ON A HALF ROUND TRIP BASIS -TO FORM SINGLE OR DOUBLE OPEN JAWS. "

This means that a SYD-SIN//BKK-SYD Itin is allowed. BA are not clear on whether the MC promo allows this or not as a more restrictive rule.

If you really want the correct answer, call BA. I'm sure they will be helpful and give you an answer. I'd feel secure booking that ticket. It's not excluded in the T&C of the MC promo, nor is the offer expressly defined as a return SYD-SIN or SYD-BKK promotion.

But unless you check with BA, there is still a (very remote) possibility of them disagreeing with this interpretation of the rules around the MC promo. If this happened, they may not issue the ticket, or might contact you at some stage before flying to discuss the situation.

Oh, and the guy talked about in acampbel's trip report here:
http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/discus/viewtopic.php?t=2437

"there was an announcement for everyone to sit down and could Mr X make himself known to the cabin crew. A couple of armed police then boarded the plane and escorted Mr X off! "

May have bought a ticket he was not entitled to :D

Very few Brits meet match that description :P .

Is the discounted fare on WTP eligible to earn 1.5 Q-Points for the AA Platinum Challenge? Will be making a trip from SYD-SIN and return in late June/early July.

Edited to correct error.

I think it's 1.5 Q-points:

110% of miles flown
1.50 Q-Points / mile.

Flights will book into W Class as WEE1Y fare basis. You may want to double check with BA that they are eligible flights, but there shouldn't be any drama at all.

W class is the full fare, T is the discount fare for BA's World Traveller Plus.

See the BA Chart and you'll confirm that indeed they both earn 1.5 EQP's and 100% mileage

Just back to the original topic... I saw a colour advertisement by BA in the Travel section of the Saturday SMH for this offer. This has got to be hurting Qantas a little bit. They've lost revenue from me (about $7,500).

My travel plans have changed so I cannot go SYD-SIN return later this month on the special F fare I purchased. I contacted BA because and asked if I could rebook for later in the year. Computer says no... this ticket cannot be changed at all, so all I can do it pay $100.00 fee and then re-book on another flight at whatever the going fare is, or I can cancel the ticket entirely and get a full refund (which takes up to 8 weeks), except for the cancellation fee of $500.00. Ouch!

As I couldn't guarantee when the next trip will be it seemed silly to pay the $100.00, book a new flight and then cancel it again and incur another fee. So I cancelled.

Then I thought if I did re-book on a full fare, the refund may be easier with no or a smaller cancellation fee. So I phoned back to cancel the cancellation, but the agent who took the call was much more flexible and moved the original booking to November for me!

I know we've discussed the T's & C's issue before but it's a salutary lesson in what can happen when you purchase a "special" fare. Thankfully the second BA agent came was much more helpful :D

Grrrrrr!

Management changed the dates again! Now they want me in SIN for two days in early Dec. I phoned BA and asked very nicely if they would push my flight back 2 weeks. Absolutely no dice. :(

Choices were (as above) lose $100 and re-book, or lose $500 and cancel. All they could offer were full J and F fares if I rebooked, no D, C or A available. So I cancelled the fare and have booked a D fare on QF. :-|

The only good thing is that my FF new year begins 1st Dec so at least the SC's will now go towards retaining SG instead of being a total loss.
