I think hoping for an upgrade is only going to lead to disappointment. You're better off looking at ways of making the journey more bearable, consider paying for advance seat selection, or 24hrs before departure, you can get online and select seats for free, to pick some good seats. The single best thing to make the trip bearable in Y in my opinion is to get some noise cancelling headphones. It'll make the entertainment that much clearer and more enjoyable.

In 2.5 weeks I am flying BA to LHR in PE, return in Economy. For my dates it was only about $500 extra outbound ti go PE when I chose the codeshare on CX to HKG then BA A380 (vs 1k+ extra to book BA direct via SIN on their 777). I understand QF PE us generally superior but only time will tell.

This sounds like yet another QFF member not really understanding how the program they are a member of really works. We seem to be getting more and more of these every day.

That is in Qantas' interest (and means they don't have to lift their game), our - AFF's - objective should be to make each one of them an informed member to drive improvements for all of us.
