Today i flew BNE to MEL with the family and somewhere in between the QF baggage handlers destroyed my daughters car seat. When she saw it coming out on the baggage belt in MEL she burst into tears. It looked like it was on the first trolley on the way to the plane/terminal, fell off and then was run over by every other trolley on the way. Baggage handler just chucked what was left of it back on the trolley and unloaded. Fortunately the baggage services staff desk at Melbourne were very helpful and offered a prepaid credit card to the value of the seat which i thought was pretty good service.

Red Roo please pass on a commendation to Catherine at Baggage Services Melbourne.

Unfortunately we had to wait at the airport for another hour while a relative brought up a spare seat so that we could get home. Personally i am glad to see then end of that seat, it has been lost by Qantas twice and now run over - obviously cursed

'tis good the read a well recovered situation ...

Too often we come across bad report regarding checked luggage.

Given your observations regarding condition its condition on arrival I have no doubt there was little else Catherine could do.

last year, we also found the Melbourne AND Sydney Baggage services staff to be responsive when we had a flythrough stroller (skipped our day transit in MEL) they found us a spare for the day and then broken suitcase when we eventually overnighted in SYD. last flight in after spending a day meeting and greeting new rellies with tired toddler and pregnant daughter in law ! I think we were both about to sit down and cry! QF were ever so helpful that day

Share the joy - it's good to hear some areas of QF know how (or are allowed) to sort things.
