Bronze FF Goes Platinum with one Flight, how I hear you say?

I recently came across a colleague who told me he had 1500 status credits racked up but he was a Bronze FF. I must admit I was a bit miffed by this and on further analysis it was confirmed as correct.

Next time he flew Qantas he was upgraded to Platinum, turns out he hadnt flown the mandatory 4 Qantas legs to qualify. Plenty of business class flights with Cathay Pacific saw his SC surge, but went 5 weeks from getting acheiving the required amountt o actuall benefitting from the increased cabin bonus, international first class lounge access and so-on

So the moral to the story, well there aiont one really just wanted to share it with you guys ;-)

Someone on this forum posted about a similar occurrence for themselves recently. It’s probably quite common!

There would be no [-]cabin[/-] status bonus on Cathay though ;)

Mrsdrron nearly did it.In the year she got to plat her 4th QF flight got her to 1370 SCs.The next days flight got her to plat.So Day1-NB,Day 2-SG,Day 3-WP.But she missed out on getting an SG pack!

quite common - maybe not.

but i suspect a number of low frequency high class overseas travellers for whom the qf program works best

Damn, here i was thinking there was one hellishly expensive flight I could book to go from Bronze to Platinum!

(Hey I can dream right?)

In the old days of QF107\108 running B747's all the way, a single F flight from SYD-JFK vv was enough to go straight from NB to SG. Then again if you've just laid down $20,000 on a single return flight, free QP entry for the next year is only fair. Of course you'd need to do at least 2 more QF flights to actually get your 4 flights minimum.
